We are having problems with an eChalk verification screen coming up. Each time we login to GoogleDocs on the iPad, it follows with an eChalk verification screen. No email or password combination we've tried has worked. - Leerssen & Salinas
ReplyDeleteThis is an eChalk issue that we are experiencing with the iPads. To get around this, it will be easier if you type your blog posts from a computer (desktop or laptop) instead of the iPad. Tech Services is aware of the issue and we are working on a solution with our web hosting client (eChalk) at this time.
DeleteFYI - The video linked in Thing 7 has been pulled. I found a short tutorial on YouTube that is helpful in the basics of GarageBand. http://youtu.be/9fr3A7FpPlQ
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. I will update the link.
DeleteAlso, is GarageBand a part of the standard app install on the iPads issued to campus libraries? I'm not finding it and I know that we can't just freely download new apps on our own.
ReplyDeleteGarageband should be installed on the iPads. If it is not there, we can make sure that the cart is updated before school begins.
DeleteUnder Thing 9 the Skype education link was not working on iPad or PC. I searched "Skype in the classroom " and found the information.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to complete these tasks using a school iPad because I wanted to make sure that whatever I'm trying is something I can show to kids in the fall. I'm having a great deal of trouble. For Thing 4, for example, I took pictures on a school iPad and did the photo editing, but I cannot upload them to my blog. I cannot upload anything to my school Google Drive account on the iPad, so I tried uploading them to my personal Drive, but my edited photo uploads as the original image, not the edit. I tried uploading directly into Blogger, but it says I have to have the Google+ app. I'm pretty sure I could do all of this on my personal iPad and maybe get it posted, but isn't part of the point that I should be learning to use the school iPads. I had similar problems with Thing 3. I'm feeling quite frustrated and am falling behind in class assignments. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that you are experiencing so much trouble. For Thing 4, you will have to pull them into your Google Drive on the iPad, and upload them to your blog from a desktop or laptop computer. Unfortunately, at this time there is no other work around for this issue. Please let me know if that works for you. Also, if you would like some additional support, we can set up a time for a phone call. Additionally, I will be at the ASF for an iPad training Tuesday 6/24/14 from 8a-11:30am. Please feel free to drop by if that timing works for you. Let me know how you would like to proceed. I am happy to help.

I can not remember how to post to my blog. I am currently on Thing 5. HELP!
ReplyDeleteOnce you log into your eCHalk account, go to blogger.com and it should automatically log you in. From there, you should hit your blogger dashboard. There will be an orange button in the top left corner that says "new post" that will allow you to make a new entry. There is a help document with pics in the help section. Here is the link to the information that you need: https://drive.google.com/a/ga.aliefisd.net/#folders/0Bx0nStWl7Mj1MWlpSllCVHZZVXM
DeleteI have created my blog, however it is listed under my personal gmail account. When I logged into the Alief google docs and went to blogger, it lists my personal gmail account as my default account. I do not know how to make Alief my default account. I have 2 personal blogs already and it brings those up. I was able to go in and make my Alief account a contributor to my blog. Should I continue with the personal gmail account?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to access google drive through my iPad. I get to the page that says google drive, but I don't see any 9 tiny squares anywhere to go to blogger. Don't know what to do now.
ReplyDeleteYou have 2 options: 1. scroll all the way down to the bottom, and click on "view desktop version" in order to be able to view this correctly on the iPad. 2. Use a laptop or desktop computer to set-up and post to your blog. Please let me know if either of these solutions resolves your issue. Thanks, Ashley
DeleteI created a document in ipages but am not able to open it correctly in MS Word. I saved it to my Google Drive. Can you help?
ReplyDeleteIn order to complete the Thing 4 you are asking for the app iPhoto, it is $4.99, can I use instead Repix, Moldiv or PicLab HD that I have already installed in my iPad to finish this assignment?
ReplyDeleteAshley, Please drop me from the course. I need to be more proficient before taking this course. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Haller
I believe that you are past the date for dropping the course, but I will check with the PD department to be sure. I will send you an email confirmation either way to let you know what happens.
DeleteHi Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI finally finished the course. I was not sure of the end date. Is there a survey we are to complete? I added a few comments on my Thing 13. This was a pretty involved class. I am sure I will need a refresher on some of this information.
